Cows on carousel at milking Grass and clover pastures - any cow’s dream Cows on the way to the milking parlour

On the farm, Bossie Alleen, we give you an opportunity to experience the daily activities of a modern day dairy farm first hand. Arriving at Valcor you will be treated to something cool (or hot) to drink and given a brief introduction to Van Greunen Boerdery. From here the experience really begins…

See, smell and touch the grass and clover plants that make up the bulk of our pastures. We also produce Lucerne (alfalfa), which is mainly used for silage and hay. Others sources of food for the cows include maize silage and haylige from surplus grazing. Cows are fed concentrated feed in the milking parlor as supplement (you’ll see that this is a real treat for the cows…).

On Bossie Alleen we milk 900 cows twice daily on a modern carousel dairy. We have a 50 point carousel and the average milking speed is 300 cows per hour. We will take you through the entire milking process from A to Z.

500,000 litres of milk are produced monthly.

Standard dairy tours operate daily from 14:30 until 15:30
